I found this assignment both challenging but also engaging. Reading Jenny Andersons article on privacy policies on social media was interesting. Personally, I have never read privacy polices when joining social media sites as I found them long, complicated and boring. I also never really cared about my information as I had nothing to hide, but after reading this article that changed for me. Many of the polices that were then simplified such as social media company’s ability to use your work and profit of it with the original creator getting nothing, was eye opening. I also found the statistic that stated 43% of British 8-11-year olds have Instagram. (Anderson, 2020). A scary statistic, especially considering the possibly detrimental privacy policies that are used. The second section to this assignment was creating a linked in account. Before this assignment I had heard a lot of positive things from my dad and uncle, who both use linked in as a way to display their CVs and also to find possible recruits. A user’s ability to create an account so simply and reach so many people in their respected field or other fields. I gained valuable knowledge and criticisms from my peers in how to improve and better my work.
